- Do I need a paid Claude plan to use the Google Drive connector?
- No. The connector itself is available on every plan, including Free. Drive Cataloging — searching inside document content rather than just file names — requires a paid plan.
- Can Claude read images inside my Drive documents?
- No. Claude extracts text content only. Images embedded in Docs, Sheets, or PDFs are not read.
- Can Claude edit a Google Doc directly?
- Limited. Claude can suggest edits, but it cannot make changes inside Docs natively. You copy the output back into the Doc manually.
- Can Claude save a generated file to my Drive?
- Yes — once you turn on Code Execution and File Creation in Settings → Capabilities. Claude creates the file and gives you a link to it in your Drive.
- How do I get the best results when searching Drive?
- Be specific. 'Find the client intake form for CH Tools' works better than 'find client forms'. Use Drive Cataloging on a paid plan if you need to search inside document content.
- Do I need to reattach a file every time in a long chat?
- No. Once attached, the document stays in context for the whole conversation. Reattach only when you start a new chat.
